Role Overview
At Insure Connect Services (ICS), we partner with international brokers and insurance firms to place skilled South African professionals into remote, high-impact roles.
As demand for commercial underwriting talent continues to grow, we are actively building a pre-qualified talent pipeline to support our clients across the UK and Australian markets.
This is not a single vacancy, but an opportunity to join a professional network of like-minded individuals, with typical placement turnaround times of 4–8 weeks, depending on client demand.
As a Commercial Underwriter within our pipeline, you will support international brokers across new business, renewals, and portfolio management - contributing to both client retention and business growth, while maintaining high underwriting and service standards.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Portfolio Support

Assist with new business, renewals, endorsements, and mid-term adjustments

Support retention strategies and contribute to reducing policy cancellations

Analyse client portfolios and assess risk to ensure appropriate cover and pricing
Client & Stakeholder Engagement

Maintain clear, professional communication with clients, brokers, insurers, and internal teams

Build and maintain strong working relationships to support long-term portfolio growth
Underwriting & Compliance

Request and assess quotations, present options, and implement premium adjustments

Ensure all underwriting activity aligns with quality standards and regulatory requirements
Administration & Financial Processes

Maintain accurate electronic records for audit and compliance purposes

Assist with invoicing, refunds, and general policy administration

Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and up to date
Minimum Requirements

Qualification: Matric (essential); FAIS compliance required. A relevant Degree or Diploma is advantageous

Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience in Short-Term Insurance, specifically Commercial Underwriting

Client Exposure: Proven experience engaging directly with clients in a professional capacity

Communication: Strong English proficiency, professional presentation, and confident verbal communication

Availability: Willingness to work international hours (UK/Australian time zones)

Technical Setup: Dedicated home office with reliable fibre internet (minimum 50/50 Mbps; 100/100 Mbps preferred)

Location: Must be a South African citizen currently residing in South Africa
